Your Most Important Buildings

The N&N Centenary Book

‘Our City, Our County – a celebration of the first 100 years of the Northumberland and Newcastle Society’

In 2024 the N&N will celebrate its centenary and, to mark the occasion, we are producing a book … but we need your help.

We want to identify the buildings and structures in Newcastle and Northumberland that matter most to those of us who live and work here.

Some of them may be of great historical value, others may not be – they may simply be buildings which, for a variety of reasons, form an important part of the fabric of your and our lives.

It could be a building you’ve visited, worked or studied in; a structure (a piece of Roman wall perhaps) that triggered an early interest in history or a monument, bridge or public building that holds a special memory.

All we specify is that your entry relates to a man-made structure.

We hope the result will shine a light on buildings that may not be included on any of the special buildings lists but are special, nonetheless, to someone.

And that our book will provide a fascinating record of us and the buildings that have shaped our lives.

All you need to do is to complete our short nomination form.
