The countryside and rural life, campaigning for sustainable management and recreational access.
Major developments, such as open-cast mining, sand and gravel extraction, intrusions on the designated green belts around Newcastle and Morpeth (where pressure remains strong), wind farms: too many could diminish the uniquely beautiful and rare quality of Northumberland, this "land of far horizons".
Design quality, promoting the highest quality design in public and private buildings alike, ensuring sensitive siting, choice of materials and fitness for purpose. We press for conservation of good buildings from the past and their appropriate use in the future.
