Northumberland & Newcastle Society

How you can help

The Northumberland and Newcastle Society is a voluntary Society and depends heavily on its members to volunteer their services. We are always in need of new volunteers to help to do a job or replace those who have done their stint and would like to stand down for a while. You don't need to be an expert. There are opportunities to help in a variety of ways which will enable you to use existing skills or gain new experience.

Auction of Promises

We are planning to hold an Auction of Promises at our December Lunch. Donors are invited to offer anything from an hour of ironing to an organised picnic, which other members can bid for. All proceeds go to the Society. This is a fun and easy way to get involved and to help the Society survive. Find out more...

Current Opportunities

We are looking for:

  • Correspondents in outlying areas of the County who are willing to write a few lines about interesting and important issues in their locality.
  • More help on Committees.
  • People who are willing to take some membership leaflets to suitable outlets in their area.
  • Someone to compile a short list of events that would be of interest to members for inclusion in the magazine and on the web site.
  • People to seek out new advertisers for the magazine to help reduce our costs

You can also help by:

  • Contributing articles or photographs to the magazine
  • Helping to run an event
  • Helping to raise funds
  • Helping to support a campaign

If you would like to volunteer for any of these or can think of other ways you could help, contact the Society Office on 0191 281 6266 or by email
